I heard that an Anesthesiologist has fewer hours than a surgeon, and still has great pay and vacation time.

Wait, Anesthesiologists have to be in surgery as long as the surgeon, however less paperwork and follow up afterward. Besides, Anesth. is a much easier profession to achieve.

Yes, but anesthesiologists can be on duty 24/7 or on call, depending on staffing.

A local hospital may have one on duty and 1 on call Sat and Sun, depending on how many people are in surgical intensive care. And if at 3am, multiple trauma cases are bought in, they might be called in.
No,an anesthesiologist is not an 8 to 5 job.

Pharmacist, high pay and good hours. However, you do need a 6 yr degree.

Cardiovascular ultrasound technicians are in high demand and start right out of school at approximately $28-$30 hr with options such as freestanding image centers or medical offices if you want reasonable office hours. You can also choose portable company to work for and have a lot of flexibility and freedom in your work traveling locally and can command a higher salary and oftentimes a vehicle. You are not a physician so liability insurance is reasonably priced and as for emergency cases, ultrasound emergencies need to go to the hospital for immediate evaluation, so there is no middle of the night work (unless you choose to be on-call at hospital emergency rooms). A BS degree and 2 yr program is the education required, much less than either an anesthesiologist or surgeon.
